Twitter Report 2011

I'm not much of a tweeter. Mostly because I don't have something witty to type every 3 minutes, but also because when I do have something witty I tend to blow it on facebook. That said, Twitter has become my favorite method of tracking baseball news and rumors. More often than not, writers post their news on Twitter before even writing a full article. Here's a handful of Twitter users I suggest you follow ASAP in order to stay on top of the upcoming season...

  • @jaysonst - ESPN reporter and Philadelphia's own Jayson Stark provides the greatest array of odd stats and obscure trivia you can find on the web. His column has recently become a free read on the ESPN website.
  • @philliesnation - PhilliesNation.com website with Pat Gallen and crew keep you updated on all Phillies news both major and minor league. Their newly redesigned website is going to be my home away from home this coming season.
  • @Ken_Rosenthal - Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal is always among the first to break any baseball related news. Plus, he's got Raul Ibanez's back if someone ever accuses him of steroid use!
  • @SI_JonHeyman - Jon Heyman from SI is surprisingly forthcoming and critical on his Twitter reports. It's refreshing coming from such a mainstream reporter.
  • @zoowithroy - maker of awesome shirts, clever writing, and MS Paint artwork worthy of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Always good for a laugh or two.
  • @The700Level - All things Philadelphia sports. Named after the famous 700 Level at the Vet, these guys do a great job tracking down articles that interest Philly sports fans.
  • @HighCheese - David Murphy, Phillies beat reporter for the Daily News. He gets great clips and quotes following games.
  • @ryanlawrence21  - Ryan Lawrence is the Phillies beat writer for the Delaware County times. He's been very active this offseason so I assume his in-season posts will be just as informative.
  • @JSalisburyCSN - Jim Salisbury is one of the most senior Phillies writers in the area and he always has his pen close to the pulse of the town.
  • @meechone - Owner of the now defunct TheFightins.com, Meech is still good for some clever Philly sports banter and inappropriate jokes.
  • @Buster_ESPN - Buster Olney's column on ESPN.com is only readable if you're an "insider" (read: pay ESPN money!), but his topics are always intriguing.
  • Others in no particular order... @beerleaguer@gonzophilly@FuquaManuel@ToddZolecki , and @phuturephillies
Feel free to share your suggestions.
